It is my privilege to be running for the Sangamon County Board to represent District 15. I was born and raised in Springfield where I graduated from Southeast High School and earned my degrees from LLCC and UIS in political science. For many years my grandparents operated a successful small business in Springfield, Dietel and Son, which taught me a sense of commitment to my neighbors and community. I feel that running for this office is a way that I can give back to a community that has done so much for my family and I by allowing me to give back open, accountable, and honest representation to the people of District 15. 

As I walk our neighborhoods and talk to voters I hear the same things over and over again. People are tired of a government that operates in secrecy, tired of not knowing who their representative is, and tired of the broken promises of politicians out to serve their own interests. Recently after nearly 10 years in office my opponent and his fellow elected officials have finally posted the county budget and expenditures online for the public to see. Well, I can promise you that it won’t take me 10 years; it won’t take me 10 days. I will fight for an open, honest, and accountable government for the taxpayers from day 1 and that is a promise that I will keep. 

I guarantee you that when elected I will not stop until I have given an open and honest government back to the residents of Sangamon county. I will not balance a budget by cutting essential services and threatening layoffs while giving pay raises to elected officials. And I will make myself accountable not to party leaders, but to the residents of my district. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with every resident of my district and listen to any comments or concerns they have about the county board and how to make our county a better place for our families.
